CT Witch Crawl Sweepstakes FAQ:

Why are you calling it a “sweepstakes” instead of a “raffle”?
Due to Connecticut lottery and gaming laws, we can’t use the word raffle for our prize drawings. To stay compliant, we’re switching to the word sweepstakes.

Why does the wording matter?
Connecticut law reserves the term raffle for licensed charitable fundraising through the state lottery system. Using sweepstakes keeps our community event legal, safe, and fun.

Does this change how I enter?
Nope! The process is the same as always: collect code words in your passport during the Crawl, and submit the code words on the google form here on the site. 

Are the prizes still the same?
Yes — all of the magical prize bundles donated by our shops and sponsors are still up for grabs!

Does this mean I have to pay to enter?
No. The Crawl sweepstakes is free to enter, as always. 

Will I be required to pay money for the code words and entries?

No purchase will be necessary to enter the sweepstakes. When the form goes live you will need just a valid email and phone number to enter and will be allowed 1 free entry. Additional entries can be collected by participating in the crawl. No purchases are necessary to gain a code word from a participating shop or event. The more code words you collect the more entries you’ll receive.

The goal of the crawl is to support community and bring a spotlight to these shops available.

Do I need every code word to enter the sweepstakes?

Nope! All Code Words are additional entries. You automatically will receive 1 entry by filling out the form.

What if I visit a shop and I forgot the code?

Since all code words are additional entries it will be up to you to keep track of the code words. If you’re local to the shop you could always pop back in and ask! Otherwise it would be up to the shop owner’s discretion to provide code words in forms other than in person.

What if my significant other/kids/housemates also want to enter but we live together?

Anyone over the age of 18 can enter the sweepstakes. All that is required is a separate email address and a valid phone number. If you have children or teens that wish to enter, please enter on their behalf (their first name in addition to your name and your contact information, so that no personal information of minors is gathered.) 

Can I enter the sweepstakes if I live out of state?

Yes you may. The CT Witch Crawl is focused on supporting the businesses and witches of CT. By participating in the crawl you are doing just that, even if you are out of state.

How will I know if I won?

The CT Witch Crawl will be livestreaming the Sweepstakes pulls on TikTok. Winners will receive an email confirmation from the CT Witch Crawl, which is how we will coordinate shipping or in-person pick up of your prizes. If we cannot reach you by email we will reach out by phone number.

If we do not receive a response after attempting to reach out by both email and phone number we will select a runner-up for unclaimed prizes.

Can’t I just send you my passport?

Unfortunately, to keep everything streamlined on our end, the Google form will be the only way to enter. The passport serves as your map and guidebook to all the shops, plus highlights our sponsors and online shops that have exclusive offers of their own.

Hang on, I thought there was a closing ceremony sweepstakes?

Yes! This is a separate sweepstakes for all of our donations that are not safe to ship. More information about our closing ceremony can be found here on the site under Events.

 There will be no purchase necessary for this sweepstakes either, but you must accept the items in person at the time of the sweepstakes pull.
